Like many seniors, Betty lives on a fixed income. As prices rise at the grocery store, the amount of money coming in each month doesn’t change. Recently, Betty worried she wouldn’t have enough food to make it through the month.

With help from generous donors like you, when seniors run low on food and don’t know where to turn we are here to help.

Your generosity allows Betty and other retirees like her to come to a food pantry each month and choose the foods she wants. That pantry visit keeps Betty from going hungry.

“I’ve noticed a big difference with how expensive things are getting,” she said. “There’s a lot of things I used to be able to afford that I no longer can afford – food items, groceries, meats in general.”

Catholic Charities operates three food pantries in the Greater Houston area where clients like Betty can receive nutritious food in a dignified setting. Each location – in Houston, Galveston, and Richmond – is a client-choice pantry. That means clients are able to choose the foods that best fit their preferences and dietary needs in a dignified setting. And it’s all healthy.

More often than not nowadays, Betty runs out of money at the end of the month. Because of you, running out of money doesn’t have to mean running out of food.

“I’d go without food at the end of the month if I didn’t have Catholic Charities,” Betty said. “You are truly a blessing to me.”
