Thousands of Afghan families are coming to the United States fleeing violence and persecution in their homeland.  Forced to leave their loved ones and homes behind, they arrive with virtually no possessions as they begin new lives in our community.  Many of these new arrivals receive extremely limited assistance from the U.S. government, meaning they will depend on the kindness of strangers to help them on their path to self-sufficiency.
