HOUSTON — More than 100 shoe lovers hunted for a bargain on designer footwear to help Catholic Charities raise more than $15,000 for the organization’s food pantries at the “Shoe Away Hunger” shoe sale at Strake Jesuit College Preparatory on July 25, 2019.

At the one-time shoe sale, shoppers chose from hundreds of pairs of brand new shoes donated by SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker, a line of footwear sold at upscale stores. Proceeds from the shoe event benefited Catholic Charities’ food pantries in Houston, the Bay Area, Galveston Island, Texas City and Richmond.

Special thanks to Strake Jesuit College Preparatory for the use of their campus, Snapper Jack’s Catering for their generous donation of refreshments, to Sarah Jessica Parker for the donated shoes, and to all of Catholic Charities’ volunteers who helped sort, organize and distribute the shoes.

Catholic Charities serves more than 50,000 individuals through its network of food pantries, which distribute nearly a million pounds of nutritious food annually.
