Housing & Utility Assistance

 

Catholic Charities Housing Program offers services to help families on the verge of becoming homeless, or who have already experienced homelessness.

 

The program provides rental assistance and connections to services that contribute to housing stability, such as employment readiness, financial literacy, counseling and childcare.

We offer these housing services:

One-time Emergency Rental Assistance

Please consider the following when applying:

  • This is a one-time assistance.
  • Link will reopen and be available each 4th of the month.
  • Link will automatically close once we reach the limited number of applications for the month.
  • Applications will be reviewed in the order they are received.
  • If you apply and miss a call from this department, there is a possibility your application will no longer be considered.
  • Make sure you submit all documents required at the time of your call, otherwise your application will no longer be considered for assistance.
  • We only accept a limited number of applications and recommend calling United Way 211 and other agencies.

Ongoing Rental Assistance and Support
Housing Stability Services

Helping individuals and families continue to live independently through services that help them become or remain stable and self-sufficient.

Services include:

  • Case management (or close interaction to provide resources and guidance)
  • Housing navigation – security deposits and connections to suitable apartments
  • Employment readiness coaching
  • Counseling
  • Financial literacy education
  • Emergency food assistance
  • Childcare
 
To be eligible, you must:
  • Live in Harris, Galveston, Montgomery or Fort Bend counties
  • Be impacted directly or indirectly by the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Have income no more than 80% of AMI (We can help you determine if you’re income eligible)
  • Be experiencing homelessness or be at risk of homelessness or some other housing instability (such as the threat of eviction)

Housing Opportunities for persons with AIDS (HOPWA)
 
HOPWA Eligibility
  • HIV status letter
  • ID
  • Lease agreement
  • At risk of homelessness
  • Unexpected reduction of the income
  • Prolonged hospitalization as applicable
  • Deterioration of the overall health as applicable
  • Residing in one of the following service areas: Austin, Brazoria, Ft. Bend, Galveston, Grimes, Harris, Montgomery, San Jacinto, Walker, and Waller counties.
 *** Please note that clients receiving housing subsidy, such as section 8, or public housing are not eligible for this program.

For Those Experiencing Homelessness
Rapid Re-Housing

In collaboration with the Houston Housing Authority and the Coalition for the Homeless, Rapid Re-Housing (RRH) works to end homelessness for low-to-moderate income individuals and households residing in the City of Houston.

The goal of this program is to increase self-sufficiency and housing stability by helping clients to gain and maintain viable housing. The RRH Program provides the following services: Case Navigator,  Financial Assistance (Housing, Utility, Food and Transportation) and community resources.

Clients must apply with Coordinated Access through The Way Home for RRH assistance. For more information, call 832-531-6041 ( M-F 9 a.m.-1 p.m.) or view the Resource Guide. Permanent Supportive Housing

The Permanent Supportive Housing Program (PSH) is a HUD-funded grant that serves individuals and families who are chronically homeless. The PSH Program provides the following services: Case Navigator,  Financial Assistance (Housing, Utility, Food and Transportation) and community resources. Clients must apply with Coordinated Access through The Way Home for PSH assistance. A client must be able to provide chronic homelessness and a disability supportive documentation; to be referred by Coordinated Access. Rental/Housing Assistance for Women Veterans

Catholic Charities’ Women Veterans Program offers hope for women who have served this country and are in crisis. We help through financial assistance for rent, mortgage, and through other services.
