Gabriela* is a 20-year-old woman who fled El Salvador after being the victim of sexual assault. After arriving in the U.S., she came to the Catholic Charities in April of 2015 seeking help obtaining Special Immigrant Juvenile Status and Asylum.
With the help of Catholic Charities staff at the St. Frances Cabrini Center for Immigration Legal Assistance, Gabriela has been able to stay in the United States and receive her work permit.
In addition, through the work of the Cabrini Center staff she has been able to reunite with her mother, step-father, and step-brother. Gabriela has had the opportunity to thrive in her new home where she is taking English classes, and acting as care-giver to her step-brother who suffers from Cerebral Palsy. Her next goal is to obtain a driver’s license and begin attending school with the ultimate goal of becoming an attorney.
With your support of Catholic Charities, Gabriela has found a new lease on life. Thank you!
