You helped an elderly veteran find stability

When Brenda was growing up with seven siblings, she experienced what it was like to live on a tight budget. Now, in her 70s, she’s doing it again. Her meager income from social security feels smaller each month.

But Brenda has help

Because of you, Brenda – an army veteran – gets help from the Women Veterans Program at Catholic Charities. She meets weekly with a support group, navigates through financial struggles with a case manager, and get groceries from the food pantry.

You made all of this possible.

The fixed income that Brenda gets each month is just $1,000. It’s barely enough to cover rent, utilities, and medicine, let alone food. With prices at the grocery store continuing to climb, Brenda needed help.

Now, each month, Brenda can pick out healthy foods that fit her diet. She also gets to talk to other female veterans and feel that camaraderie she missed from her time in the army. She even received help with rent one month when her money ran out.

“I’m happy that I came to Catholic Charities and received support through the Women Veteran’s Program,” Brenda said. “If I hadn’t come to Catholic Charities, I would’ve been stressed about my financial situation and lonely.”
