Eddie couldn’t get out of his head. After a traumatic event in his life, he felt trapped by his anxiety and panic attacks. Everywhere Eddie went, he would replay the event in his head. He felt he had no escape.
Then he found Catholic Charities.
With help from generous donors like you, when someone like Eddie feels hopeless and powerless in a battle with mental health, we are here to help.
Before the episodes of anxiety and panic, Eddie had never felt any sort of negative mental health. The first panic attack he experienced was so severe he thought he was having a heart attack and went to the emergency room. It was there he was told he had anxiety.
Eddie eventually found Catholic Charities and its Counseling and Behavioral Health Clinic. He can access counseling in-person or virtually, and he only pays what he can afford thanks to the program’s sliding scale fee system.
Through counseling, Eddie can now cope with his anxiety through breathing and other mental exercises that remind him thoughts are just thoughts.
“Before counseling, I could barely be in a room with my own family without panicking,” Eddie said. “Now, I’m back to socializing with friends and feel so much better.”
