Jim bravely served in the United States military. His transition to civilian life after his service has been a struggle. He recently lost his job due to time he missed while he was sick. It wasn’t long before he was behind on rent payments, and he feared an eviction notice was around the corner.

With help from generous donors like you, when a veteran down on his luck needs a hand up we are here to help.

Catholic Charities provides rent assistance to families and individuals in dire need of help all around the Greater Houston area.

It is estimated that nearly half of Houston residents could not afford to pay for a $400 emergency. People like Jim work hard, but missing time from work, needing a car repair, or having an unusually high electric bill could be the difference between having a home or living on the street.

Catholic Charities is here for Jim and others like him. With emergency financial assistance to cover rent, Jim could take a deep breath, reset, and get back to self-sufficiency. Jim served our country, and we were able to return the favor and serve him.

“I worried I would be living out on the street,” Jim said. “Thanks to Catholic Charities, I feel secure again.”
