You Helped a Single Mother Fleeing Abuse Care for Her Children

Blessed Beginnings client receives baby supplies

After fleeing domestic violence, Catholic Charities was there to help Sierra care for her children and get on her feet with your support.

Sierra was in a horrible domestic violence situation. Knowing she had to keep her two children safe, she found the courage to leave. Since she left everything behind, she found starting over difficult and was embarrassed to ask for help.

But thanks to you, Catholic Charities was there for Sierra.

The Blessed Beginnings Life Center provided Sierra basic necessities and support to take care of her children. She received diapers, formula, soap, shampoo, wipes and blankets, and began attending parenting classes to learn parenting tips and connect with other parents.

“I really like these parenting classes because it not only helps me remind myself not to take my stress out on the kids, but to also share my story and learn how to be a better parent.”

When Sierra tells people she goes to a parenting class, she shares how the daily tips are useful information and shares with others she meets.

Thanks to you, Sierra was also connected to Catholic Charities’ Crime Victims Assistance program where she can receive basic needs such as food and housing assistance, or receive counseling services to heal from the trauma of a domestic violence relationship.

Sierra is currently looking for a job, and in her words “trying to get by day by day,” but she said she is grateful for the generosity of people like you who helped her start over.

Because of your support, Catholic Charities was able to help ease her burdens for her and her children.

You can help other single mothers like Sierra provide a better life for their children.
