After a heart attack, Jorge was unable to work. You made it possible for Catholic Charities to help Jorge apply for disability due to his heart condition.
The first time Jorge visited the Guadalupe Center he’d just been released from the hospital. Only in his 40s, he was recovering from a heart attack and suffering from congestive heart failure. He admits he made some bad decisions and got involved with a gang. He’d also become estranged from his family in his youth, but, after being shot, he decided to change his ways.
Jorge’s heart attack left him very weak and unable to work. Without any income and out of options, he came to Catholic Charities.
Because of your support, the Family Assistance staff were able to provide Jorge with a one week stay in a motel, food from our food pantry, and bus passes so he could get to his doctor.

You made it possible for Catholic Charities to help Jorge apply for disability due to his heart condition. We were also able to reconnect him with his family in Los Angeles who agreed to help him, if he could get to California. Catholic Charities then connected Jorge with the St. Vincent De Paul Society who provided him a bus ticket to Los Angeles.
With a plan in place, and his recovery going well, Jorge is slowly rebuilding. Because of you, he is looking forward to reconnecting with his family, and making them a priority in his new life.
