Leslie works hard for her two children. She puts in long hours for low pay to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table. Last month, Leslie got the flu and missed a week of work. When she doesn’t work, she doesn’t get paid. At the end of the month, money was short and a utility shut off notice was on the way.

But in her time of darkness, Leslie’s lights were never shut off.

With help from generous donors like you, when a hardworking single mother needs a helping hand, we are here to help.

Catholic Charities provides utility assistance to families who are behind on payments. Sometimes – especially in the summer – the bill runs higher than families can afford to pay. Instead of losing electricity and air conditioning, these families can breathe a sigh of relief.

Leslie shelters her children from the struggles she faces every day. It took a lot of courage for her to ask for help and, when she did, Catholic Charities was here to help, like we always are for struggling families.

With emergency financial assistance to cover her utility bills, Leslie was able to return to financial stability, and good health, and get back to providing for her kids.

“I appreciate you,” Leslie said. “I really needed this and I can’t thank you enough. I am very humbled and grateful beyond words.”
