May could barely get through the day. Anxiety and stress made it hard for her to complete routine tasks like going to work or cooking a meal for herself. Sometimes, the anxiety was so severe it would make her physically sick. She felt like she had nowhere to turn.

Then she found Catholic Charities.

With help from generous donors like you, when individuals and families find themselves in a mental health battle we are here to help.

May couldn’t quite describe what she was feeling, but she knew something was off. Through therapy, she was able to identify her triggers, develop coping skills, and implement meaningful changes in her life.

Catholic Charities offers counseling across the Greater Houston area, both in-person and virtually. Mental health care can be quite costly, especially for people without health insurance, so we offer our services on a sliding scale fee, where people pay what they can afford. Sometimes that means clients pay nothing to receive this important care.

May is one of our clients who doesn’t have health insurance. She said she probably wouldn’t have sought out care if she had to pay out of pocket.

“I’m happy and putting myself first,” May said. “Without Catholic Charities, I don’t know where I’d be right now.”
