School Counseling Program

Catholic Charities School Counseling Program is currently available at six CROSS Academies of Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston Catholic Schools and Lawson Academy. Qualified clinicians are available to provide services free of charge to students attending the previously mentioned schools.

Clinicians provide a wide variety of support at the schools they serve. Students can participate in individual sessions to help in his or her personal growth. During these sessions clinicians address concerns and build strengths. Clinicians are bilingual in English and Spanish.

Jenifer School

Jenifer Santos, LCSW, CCTP

Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. She received both her Bachelor and Master of Social Work degrees from Stephen F. Austin State University. Jenifer has over ten years of experience working with unaccompanied minors, families, and youth that have experienced trauma and mental health issues. Her professional training includes evidence-based interventions such as Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Trauma and Grief Component Therapy for Adolescents, Child Centered Play Therapy, and art therapy. Jenifer is a U.S. born Salvadoran and is bilingual in English and Spanish.

Gabriela School

Gabriela Tornero, LPC, CCTP

Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. Gabriela received her Master of Education in Counseling at Lamar University. Her professional training includes evidence-based interventions such as Positive Discipline, Conscious Discipline, Parent Child Interactive Therapy, Art Therapy, Trauma Informed-Care, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT), Trauma and Grief Component Therapy for Adolescents (TGCT-A), and Child Centered Play Therapy (CCPT). Gabriela is Mexican American and bilingual in English and Spanish.

Nicole Lawson school counseling

Nicole Duarte Galvan, LMSW

Bilingual and bi-cultural, Mrs. Galvan currently works with children, adolescents, young adults, and families. She has experience working with individuals, couples, families, and groups struggling with a wide range of concerns. These include transitions, mental health, and other various concerns.
