Elena Mendez Knutson
Elena is a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and obtained her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Houston’s Graduate College of Social Work. Elena also has a Master’s in Community Clinical Psychology from Catholic University, Caracas, Venezuela and practiced as a Clinical Psychologist in Venezuela. Elena is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and a member of the National Association of Social Workers of Texas, the Venezuelan Federation of Psychologists, and the College of Psychologists of Venezuela. Elena has focused most of her work on assessments, clinical interventions, psychoeducation, and interdisciplinary teamwork in healthcare centers and non-profit organizations. Elena has more than 12 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, families, and groups. Elena specializes in working with complex trauma, poly-victimization, grief, and other common mental health challenges. Elena has worked with diverse population including Hispanic Latino immigrants, American Hispanics, and African refugees. In addition, Elena is a lecturer, entrepreneur, and writer. When Elena is not working, she dedicates time to Christian reflection, praying, working out, traveling, learning new cultures and languages, and playing music. From an early age, she has utilized music and faith to cope with life’s complexities.
