You helped a veteran in crisis.
After serving in the Navy for 11 years, Sandra was able to use her skills and experience to get a job at an equipment company. She was doing well until she was laid off due to the economic downturn caused by the pandemic.
She was okay at first. But after using up her savings and cashing out her 401K to pay her bills, she was forced to use credit cards just to buy food.
Because of your support, Sandra was able to receive food at the drive-through distributions at Catholic Charities’ Mamie George Community Center.
“This is a blessing and I can’t thank you enough for this.”
After visiting the distribution, she was connected to Catholic Charities’ Women Veterans Program. She started attending virtual support groups with other female vets, and also began attending weekly counseling sessions to cope with stress.
And, with your help, she received emergency financial assistance to pay her rent and utilities so she could stay in her apartment.
Sandra now attends the program’s Career Essentials courses online to work on her resume and interviewing skills, and she received a donated suit for interviews.
“They have been helpful with my resume, sending job opportunities to me and the discussions with other veteran women on Career Essentials every Monday and Thursday are truly insightful.
“Please accept my heartfelt thanks for the services you have provided for me. Without your help I would be homeless. I am hopeful to land a job soon!”
Thank you for empowering the women who served our country in times of need!
You can help more women veterans like Sandra who experience hardship.
