Registration for TPS Holders from Honduras @ Catholic Charities North Loop West Office

Catholic Charities’ Cabrini Center will host workshops for people in our community impacted by the impending cancellation of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) from Honduras to re-register.

These workshops will also include a consultation with a lawyer to determine if the TPS holder has any other immigration options that would help them stay lawfully in the United States.

INFORMATION ON HONDURAN TEMPORARY PROTECTED STATUS (TPS)
Honduras has been granted a 6-month extension of TPS from January 6, 2018 to July 5, 2018.
To maintain TPS during the 6-month extension, current Honduran TPS-holders MUST re-register.
Procedures for re-registration: 60-day re-registration period: December 15, 2017 – February 13, 2018

INFORMACION SOBRE EL ESTADO DE PROTECCION TEMPORAL PARA HONDURENOS
Honduras ha sido concedido una extensión de 6 meses desde el 6 de Enero del 2018 al 5 de Julio del 2018.
Para mantener su status de TPS durante los 6 meses, Hondureños con TPS DEBE volver a registrarse.
Procedimientos para volver a registrarse con el TPS: Periodo de registración es de 60 días del 15 de Diciembre del 2017 al 13 de Febrero del 2018

FIRST REMOTE CITIZENSHIP CLINIC

Presented by Catholic Charities’ St. Frances Cabrini Center for Immigrant Legal Assistance

Register for Clinic

Application assistance will be offered for persons seeking to apply for U.S. Citizenship. No service fees for counsel, advice and assistance with applications. Attorneys and accredited representatives will be present screening for eligibility.

All applicants must pre-register in advance! We have a limit of 60 people for this first event.

How the Remote Citizenship Clinic Works:

Registered participants will be contacted via telephone by an attorney during the designated time. The attorney will help the individual complete the U.S. Citizenship application over the phone. Please be prepared to submit documentation (see legal requirements below) to assist in the application process.

Requirements for Remote Citizenship Clinic:

  1. Must be available from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the date of the Citizenship Clinic, Friday, August 28, 2020
  2. Must meet all basic legal requirements listed below:

Basic Legal Requirements for Naturalization:

  • Lawful Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder)
  • 18 years old or older
  • Five years of continuous residence as a permanent resident*
  • *Exception if married to a U.S. Citizen (three years continuous residence)
  • Physical presence in U.S. for at least half of the five (or three) year period
  • Good moral character for the five (or three) years
  • Be able to pass English and U.S. History/Civics exams
